The forest is calling

High in the authentic Kop van Noord-Holland, in the middle of the Robbenoordbos, is the dynamic nature campsite “the forest is calling!”. On this green campsite you will find furnished tipi tents and special forest houses based on the principle of a ‘passive house’. Very faithfully built, with an extremely high insulation value, equipped with a rainwater reservoir for toilet and shower water and filled with metropolitan comfort. La Serre, for example, is such a circular holiday home for 6 people; very spacious, with large windows and beautifully situated on the edge of the forest. Forest Cabin is an attractive eco-cabin for 2 people. Warthog Family is also such a unique holiday home and is reminiscent of a small village for 5 people. This winter you can even spend the night in a 45-year-old renovated double-decker bus: La Karavana. The stay in Slootdorp includes a delicious fresh and extensive breakfast!

In the dunes of Hoek van Holland, which you feel completely secluded, a former German telephone bunker has been transformed into a nature house for 2 adults and 2 children. Provided with all contemporary comforts in a beautiful ecological and circular design, in which the interior matches the environment and history. Here you sleep under the habitat of the fox, marten, natterjack toad and sand lizard. You will stay in the nature reserve and national monument the Vinetaduin, which houses no fewer than 70 bunkers from four layers of military history. Dive into nature and stay in history.

As promised, I’ll take you across all provinces. In Hollum on Ameland you sleep in the middle of the dunes, close to the beach, while the Hollumer forest starts right outside the door. Everywhere you look, you see nature: rabbits graze in your garden and with a bit of luck the deer can also be seen up close. From the king size bed you have a prominent view of the lighthouse, how beautiful do you want it to be? 

An extraordinary place in North Limburg

Parc Extraordinary is a place where you can really relax. Here you have nature houses with unobstructed views of the fields, tiny houses, domes, yurts and luxury glamping tents with a lovely private hot tub. But you can also sleep in the country house in the rose garden, the tea house on the lake or in the tent lodge “Movie Addict”, where a large screen with a beamer hangs. Or in the orangery, a beautiful 450m2 greenhouse equipped for 6 people. In the morning a delicious breakfast is served. 

Nature houses on the Veluwe

In the middle of the woods of the Veluwe you will find some great rustic nature houses where you are surrounded by kilometers of forest and heath! In Vierhouten, for example, you will find a detached bungalow for 2 people on an estate, located in a unique forest garden of 1.5 hectares with a wildlife observation screen and three birdwatching/photography huts. Regular visitors to the garden are badgers, foxes, squirrels, pine martens, wild boars, roe deer, red deer and many species of birds and birds of prey. At the other end of the plot is a second, larger holiday home, no further neighbors in sight. 

Between Hulshorsterzand and the Veluwemeer you will find another cozy nature house in the middle of nature, on the interface of two of the most beautiful landscape types that exist in the Netherlands.

Another fairytale-like forest house among the animals can be found in Stroe, in the vast forest and heath area of ​​Boswachterij Kootwijk. A traditional wooden log cabin for up to 4 people. Very special: the house is located in a closed private forest plot of more than five hectares that is closed to the public. So don’t be surprised if you see red deer, wild boars and roe deer walking around the house. So this is the ultimate chance to go completely back to basics and discover a place that you normally wouldn’t get to! Literally and figuratively a hut on the heath!

Have you always wanted to sleep in a tiny house in one of the oldest forests in the Netherlands? Then this place on the edge of the Veluwe is a very nice introduction. A cottage in the Speulderbos with an unobstructed view of a moor. The place to retreat and enjoy peace, nature and a unique accommodation! It is a very well thought-out, sustainably designed house that offers a special spatial experience. And a fifteen-minute drive away you will find beautiful sand dunes for a real desert hiking experience.

The Veluwe is well represented when it comes to nature houses. In the town of Tonden near Zutphen there is also a pearl of a nature house. Just about in the middle of nowhere , surrounded by forest, this luxury forest villa for 10 people is a unique place to spend the night in our own country. A modern villa with huge windows that is beautifully framed by trees, trees and more trees. The house is fully equipped, such as comfortable beds, two bathrooms, a pool table, two spacious terraces, a fire pit and a wood-fired hot tub! There is WiFi, a charging station for an electric car, but no television. Definitely one of the most beautiful nature houses in the Netherlands!

In the heart of the Sallandse Heuvelrug

The Veluwe is not the only place with special getaways in beautiful nature. You will also sleep in the middle of nature in this unique nature cottage for 6 to 8 people, built after an original Norwegian model. Literally on the Sallandse Heuvelrug with 5,200 hectares of forest and heath on the doorstep. The log cabin itself is located on its own sloping moorland of one hectare and has a magnificent view to the sunset side. Due to the high location (40 meters) you can look over the treetops to the horizon. Here everything revolves around the space to enjoy the silence. There is a large veranda and a fireplace with natural stone fireplace. But no TV or luxury equipment. Here you will find more information about the nature house in Hellendoorn.

In the haystack in the Regge region

This nature house in Wierden is located on an organic, historic farm, but once in the house you can hardly notice it. Here you sleep next to a herd of grazing Aberdeen Angus cows. In the summer they graze in the meadow, in the winter they can be found in the stable. The cottage is fully equipped and has two bedrooms, a sauna and air conditioning. It is of course also possible to see more of the area, there are cycling and walking paths and a little further on is a cozy Twents village where you can have a bite to eat. Here you can book the nature house in Wierden.

There is one house in the beautiful nature reserve of De Kampina and the Oisterwijk forests and fens. Not just a house, but a real private spa! A wellness all for you alone. This Parel in ‘t Groen forest house is suitable for 2 people. Outside there is a lovely jacuzzi from which you have a beautiful view over the surrounding forest area. In addition to the jacuzzi, there is also a sauna, a steam cabin, and several lovely seating areas with fireplaces, among other things.

Off grid in a sod hut

This secluded tiny house is located next to the woods of the Oostermaet estate, a little way from the ‘bij’j ut peerd’ camping site in Okkenbroek. You walk there via a footpath along the horses. There is no gas, electricity or drinking water in the house, but there is a fire pit with grill grate and Dutch oven, solar lamps, a solar shower and a zinc bathtub under which a fire can be lit! Water for the bath can be obtained from the pump. At the cottage you can save yourself for a real off grid experience! 

On the border of city and forest

A cute tiny house for 4 people, in the middle of the Bakelse Bossen near Helmond, where the city turns into the forest. The cottage is simple but offers everything you need. Outside there is a nice garden set with parasol and a fire pit. The woodland garden is chock full of birds, from robins to blue tits and from the great spotted woodpecker to the buzzard that has made a nest 150 meters from the cottage. You have a lot of privacy in this little paradise, only now and then you see a mountain biker cycling past through the trees. 

A hiker’s cabin with a 5-star view

In Vijlen, in the hills of South Limburg, you will find a beautifully situated hiker’s hut in the meadow between the sheep. Very well insulated and also equipped with light and electricity to charge your phone or turn on a heater in the winter. You look out over the Geul valley towards the Belgian Ardennes and the edge of the Vijlenerbos. The sheep walk in the meadow around the hut and sometimes spend the night under the hut. Another option is the nature house on stilts, which you have to climb into via a ladder. 

Right on the water

Well hidden in Reeuwijk, in the middle of the Green Heart, you will find a true paradise for 8 people. With good weather you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner on the jetty on the water, where you have a beautiful view over the private lake. From here you can watch an amazing sunset. Rent a rowing boat, sailboat or canoe and discover the quiet area and also nature reserve EHS, Natura 2000. The nature house is spectacularly located on an unpaved dike, part of the Hollandse Waterlinie. Nature triumphs here, man adapts. You can park on the paved road, a fifteen minute walk or row. 

The Venice of the North

In a truly unique location in Giethoorn, directly on the Bovenwijde in the Weerribben-Wieden National Park, you will find this idyllic nature cottage for a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children. There is only one cottage in the area and it is managed by the same owner. You walk over a bridge to a boardwalk between the trees and the reeds, to arrive at a real oasis with a magnificent view. The cottage, surrounded by water, overlooks the national park with a wide variety of birds, deer and rare species. Rent a boat and discover the low moor marsh areas with extensive reed beds and cozy harbor towns such as Vollenhove, Blokzijl and Lemmer. 

Spend the night in the primeval province of the Netherlands

Bird lovers can enjoy this beautiful B&B in the open landscape of the Natura 2000 area Arkemheen. It is a recently built nature house, where space, tranquility, nature and luxury are key words. The house is located in a unique bird area, in a wide plain, almost without trees. From the house you also have a view of the great pond of 1,500 m2. Bicycles are available for free.

Friends or family weekend on the mound

In Holwerd in Friesland you have a great nature house where you can enjoy undisturbed with a large group of friends, family or colleagues. The cottage is located on a mound in the middle of the meadows, away from the public road, in the property of the landlords. The mound itself is a national monument that dates from around the beginning of the era, but the house is now fully equipped. The total living area of ​​the farm is 240 m² and the garden is 6,000 m². Nature is expansive, the Wadden Sea is nearby and it feels as if you are far away from civilization. 

Fruit of the Betuwe

A detached wooden nature house located on the Rhine, on four hectares of private land. It is completely free on the edge of a wooded plot with a large pond and hiking trails. Natural and sustainable materials were used as much as possible in the construction of the house. Inside it is light and tastefully decorated with an eye for detail. You have a view of the meadow and the orchard with farm animals. Fruit, eggs, nuts and juices come from our own yard. Your neighbor is the little owl and if you are lucky the kingfisher will skim over the pond. In this unique Dutch landscape, the vast forest area of ​​the Utrechtse Heuvelrug lies on one bank of the Rhine. On the other bank, the river landscape extends with wide floodplains, fruit growing and old farms, 

A cabin in the woods

This cozy cottage for 2 is geared towards the outdoors. The design with the wooden facade is more than striking. This special house in the Frisian countryside will have a wood-fired private sauna, even in such a striking design house. The mini house has its own garden and terrace, is fully equipped and is surrounded by nature. Birds can be spotted from the terrace and the squirrel also passes by.
