Milos, Greece

As one of the Cyclades, Mílos is known as the place where the famous statue of Venus de Milo was discovered. But visitors today still find their own treasures while exploring this 58 square kilometer island. Stroll the cobbled streets or volcanic craters, meander through ruins or stretch out on the groomed white sand beaches overlooking turquoise waters. Even the largest city, Adamantas, with two museums and a multitude of boutique hotels, remains largely free from the crowds of the other Greek islands. In addition, a stay on the island is very cheap and you can enjoy the large amounts of Greek food and sunny drinks.

Location: During the summer several boats sail daily from Piraeus (near Athens) to Milos in about 7 hours. Milos is also accessible via other Cyclades islands such as from Santorini. Milos Airport is only used for domestic flights. From Athens you fly to the island in about 25 minutes.

Also in the middle of the Cyclades is the island of Paros, a tropical island in Europe known for its phenomenal beaches and cute Cycladic villages with snow-white houses. Parikia, the main harbor has winding streets, while the small fishing harbor at Naoussa is one of the most charming spots in the Cyclades.

The beaches on this sunny island are almost too good for words, shallow waters in shades ranging from turquoise to royal blue. You should also think of small harbours, beautiful hiking trails, picturesque villages and many restaurants and cafes. A wonderful holiday destination and Paros is certainly one of the most beautiful islands in Europe.

Location: Paros has an airport for domestic flights. To fly to Paros you travel via Athens. However, it is recommended to take a boat to Paros. The fastest way to the island is from Mykonos. From Piraeus (near Athens) there are also several ferries to Paros in the summer and that trip takes about four hours.

When it comes to sunny islands in Europe, you probably don’t immediately think of the United Kingdom. Of course, this isn’t to say it doesn’t have many great islands to visit. However, people will not easily choose this environment for a sun holiday. But that’s because most people have never heard of the Isles of Scilly.

The Isles of Scilly, located just outside the lowest part of the UK, are therefore much warmer than the rest of the country. This is a place where the sight of palm trees is not surprising and where clear, clean glassy water is the norm! The best part is that it is one of the most unspoilt parts of the UK.

In addition, there are plenty of things to see or places to visit in Scilly. From water sports and wine tasting to galleries and world famous gardens, there is an activity and attraction for everyone. Whether you enjoy island hopping or prefer relaxing on one of the many beautiful beaches, you are likely to fall in love with this tranquil archipelago.

Location: The islands are located southwest of Cornwall, England, about 45 km from Land’s End. There is a daily ferry from Penzance to St Mary’s and takes about 2 hours 45 minutes.
